The Dell Chromebook 13 7310 has been winning plaudits since its launch towards the end of 2015. Carbon fibre casing, magnesium alloy palmrest, glass trackpad, full sized backlit keyboard, 12-hour battery life and a FHD IPS screen to boot. Serious build quality and performance to match. One review called it the "XPS of Chromebooks".
Is this real deal, something to rival the Google Pixel? Well I am not sure about that. The Dell Chromebook 13 7310 is not really trying to compete with the Pixel. But it is trying to position itself in the middle of the market, between its cheaper 11” predecessor and the Google Pixel.
So what was the big negative on all the review sites? Very simply, the price. Starting at £580 for an Intel Celeron and ranging to £1095 for the top end Intel Core i5, they don’t come cheap. Especially when you consider they are comparable in price to many low to mid-range Ultrabooks.
So what is the solution? Buy a cheaper alternative? Spend £1000 on the Google Pixel?
